NDP announces candidates seeking nomination in Mount Pearl North
The New Democratic Party of Newfoundland and Labrador has closed nominations in the district of Mount Pearl North.
The nominated candidates are Tyler Downey and Nicole Kieley.
The nomination meeting will be held 7:00 p.m. at Admiralty House Communications Museum, 365 Old Placentia Road in Mount Pearl.
To vote at the nomination meeting you must be a member of the NL NDP, a resident of the district of Mount Pearl North, and have photo identification that includes your address.

Candidate Biographies
Tyler Downey
Tyler Downey has a M.Sc. in Condensed Matter Physics, and is currently an oceanographic researcher in the Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Tyler has been volunteering with the NDP in various capacities since 2011, when he managed the CBS campaign in the General Election. Recently, Tyler has been Assistant Campaign Manager for Sheilagh O'Leary's successful bid for Deputy Mayor of St. John's.
A longtime resident of Mount Pearl, Tyler grew up, played soccer, took swimming lessons, and went to school in the Power's Pond area. Turning his attention to politics, Tyler hopes to bring progressive change to the district of Mount Pearl North, and all of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Nicole Kieley
Nicole Kieley has 20 years working in the anti-violence sector and has contributed to the health and growth of communities within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Her roles have included president of the Graduate Students’ Union, Executive Director for Women in Resource Development Corporation, and presently Executive Director with the NLSexual Assault Crisis and Prevention Centre Inc.
Together with many community partners, Nicole has led provincial projects, coordinated crisis intervention initiatives, and created effective education and community sustainability strategies. She is a firm believer that to address complex community issues, we need many good people, from all sides, working together.
Nicole says that growing up and living in Mount Pearl has made it a place she proudly calls her hometown. Nicole’s work as a community leader has provided her with the skills and fortitude to be the strong voice the district of Mount Pearl North needs.
