Harbour Main

Tony immigrated to Newfoundland in 1967 to take up a position at Memorial University teaching French. His activism in Newfoundland began with Tom Mayo's campaign against John Crosbie, and he has been involved ever since with the NDP, provincially and federally.

More recently he worked closely with Lorraine Michael in her 2006 campaign, a by-election which she won, and in successive campaigns for leader of the provincial NDP, and member for Signal Hill - Quidi Vidi, and the reconfigured St. John's East - Quidi Vidi districts.

At the university, he helped organize the campaign for unionization in 1989, and co-chaired the strike committee for the Faculty Association in 2000, before being elected President of MUNFA 2003-2004.
