Sheilagh O’Leary is an experienced advocate and has been a strong voice in municipal and provincial politics for over a decade. Elected as Councillor at Large to St. John’s City Council in 2009, her election victory was one of the most successful in council history. O’Leary was voted in as Ward 4 Councillor in the 2016 by-election, and again in 2017 as Deputy Mayor.
During her time on council, she has earned a reputation for her strong leadership and accessibility to constituents. As Municipalities NL representative for the City of St. John’s, she understands the needs of the province from a grass-roots level and plans to take her enthusiasm, expertise and responsiveness to community issues to the provincial level.
She has championed many issues and is passionate about securing affordable, healthy and sustainable neighbourhoods with mental health and wellness at the forefront. O’Leary believes the promotion of diversity in our province is crucial to both our survival and our enhanced liveability.
