Judy Vanta

Judy Vanta is a long-time NDP supporter and organizer who is committed to the core value of the NDP: fighting for everyday Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

Throughout her extensive career, Judy has been dedicated to the labour movement and to strengthening workers’ rights. She has been an organizer, instructor, bargaining negotiator, and leader with groups such as NAPE, the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour (NLFL), and the Canadian Labour Congress.

Judy represented labour on a Task Force on the Workers’ Compensation System and served as a representative on the Board of Directors of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission.  She was also labour representative on the Provincial Advisory Council to the Minister on Occupational Health & Safety. While working with the Federation of Labour, Judy was mainly responsible for workers’ compensation issues and training.

Judy is known for her excellent organizing skills that she has put to good use through many successful events over the years. This included training institutes for the St. John’s & District Labour Council, educational/training sessions for NAPE, and women’s conferences for the Federation of Labour.
