Jennifer McCreath

Jennifer McCreath has devoted her life to public service. Raised in rural Nova Scotia, and educated in the mighty metropolis of Toronto,
Jennifer has called St. John's NL home since 2007.

In between studies, when she earned a College Diploma in Toronto and a
Bachelor Degree online thru Athabasca University, she spent 4 years
working full time in the private sector (banking and retail hardware).

Upon graduation, she spent four years with the Ontario Government in
policy roles dealing with the evolution of "E-Government". Her chief
accomplishment was creating a portal that allowed senior citizens to
access services from all three levels of Government on a single web
site.

Jennifer moved to NL to undertake senior-level policy work for the
newly-formed centralized technology office, the Office of the Chief
Information Officer, and specifically, wrote policies and taught
employees how to comply with the newly-proclaimed ATIPP Act (Access to
Information and Protection of Privacy). She has since worked for the NL
Crown Attorneys office; and most recently, as a civilian employee for
the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in their police communications
dispatch centre.

Jennifer co-founded St. John's Pride Inc in 2010 and ran the
organization for 2 years; and since 2014, she has been on the Board and
manages a Federally-registered Charity, the SS Kyle Historical
Foundation Inc, in Harbour Grace. Jennifer has run 30 marathons and
co-manages a local running and jogging group in St. John's.

Jennifer is a transgender pioneer, champion, educator, and activist who
played a key role in advancing human rights protection and fair access
to health care for trans people across Canada. She was short-listed for
the 2019 NL Human Rights Commission award.
